What is a Power of Attorney translation?

A Power of Attorney translation is a certified rendering of the document into another language, usually Arabic or English, so that a UAE office, court, bank or embassy can read it. It carries the same powers as the original and adds none. It supports the original; it does not replace it.

You need one when a Power of Attorney signed abroad is used in the UAE, or when a UAE Power of Attorney is used in another country. This is not general translation: one changed word can change what the attorney may do, so we keep the structure and wording of the original.

What a certified translation of a Power of Attorney must match

A receiving office compares the translation with the original. A difference in a name, a number or a power can lead to the document being queried or returned. The table shows what the translation must do and what we check on top.

What a certified Power of Attorney translation must match, and what we check
ElementWhat the translation must doWhat we also check
Names and IDsMatch the spelling in the passport or Emirates ID, in both languages. That every document in the file uses the same spelling.
Powers grantedKeep each power as written, with none added, merged or softened. That legal terms are used the same way from start to end.
Property, company or case detailsReproduce unit, plot, licence or case numbers exactly. That they match the supporting documents.
Dates and numbersCarry dates, amounts and validity periods across unchanged. That date formats are not misread between languages.
Notary and attestation marksDescribe stamps, seals and endorsements so the structure matches the original. That the translation order fits the attestation route.
Signatures and layoutFollow the order and layout of the original, and mark signatures and unclear parts. That nothing from the original is left out.

These are the checks we apply to every translation. Requirements differ by receiving office, so we confirm them before we start.

Translate before or after attestation? Four things decide

The right order depends on the route, and the wrong order can mean paying for the same work twice. We confirm the route with you at the start.

Where it was signed

A document signed abroad usually goes through notarisation, legalisation and attestation, and is translated for UAE use as the route requires. A UAE document may be translated first for use overseas.

Who receives it

The Land Department, a court, a bank, an embassy or a registry can each have its own expectation. We check with the receiving office where we can.

The language pair

Arabic to English and English to Arabic are routine. For another language, tell us and we confirm before quoting.

Attestation already done

If the original is already attested, we translate the whole document, including the stamps, and describe what each one is.

We handle the certified translation and every attestation step together. Read more about our Power of Attorney attestation, a foreign Power of Attorney for use in the UAE and whether it needs MOFA attestation.

How we translate your Power of Attorney

We start by asking where the translation will be used and who will receive it, because that decides the language, the order and the certification.

  1. Send the document and destination. Share a clear, complete copy of the Power of Attorney, the language you need and where it will be used.
  2. Confirm the order. We check whether translation comes before or after attestation for your route, and tell you before we start.
  3. Translate. We translate carefully and keep the structure and wording of the original, so the powers are not changed.
  4. Check names and numbers. We match names, passport and ID numbers, dates and property or company details to your identity documents.
  5. Certify. The translation is certified for official use by a UAE-licensed translator.
  6. Deliver, and attest if needed. You receive the certified translation. If your route needs it, we also arrange the notary public and attestation steps.

Check these before you submit your translated document

  • Names match the passports. Spelling in the translation should match the passport and Emirates ID, in both languages.
  • Powers are not widened. The translation should not add, merge or soften a power. Ask us to flag anything unclear in the original.
  • Legal terms are consistent. The same term should be used the same way throughout.
  • The order fits the route. Translation, notarisation and attestation should follow the order the receiving office expects.
  • Stamps and signatures are described. Every stamp, seal and signature in the original should appear in the translation.
  • Keep the original safe. Offices often want the original with the translation, so do not alter or discard it.

Why a Power of Attorney translation gets queried

These are points an office can raise:

  1. A name spelt differently from the passport or Emirates ID.
  2. A power worded more broadly or more narrowly than in the original.
  3. A missing page, stamp or endorsement.
  4. A translation done before an attestation step that should have come first.

Read why Power of Attorney documents get rejected. Agree the route before translation starts.

Documents you need to start

Send what you have. We will tell you what is missing before anything is translated.

  • A clear, complete copy of the Power of Attorney, every page
  • Passport or Emirates ID of the person who granted the power, to match names
  • Passport or Emirates ID details of the attorney
  • The language the translation must be in
  • Where it will be used, and the office or authority that will receive it
  • Any attestation already completed, with the stamps clearly visible

How much does translation cost and how long does it take?

The price depends on the length of the document, the language pair and how quickly you need it. Timing follows the same factors, and attestation, if your route needs it, adds its own steps.

We give you a realistic estimate and a clear quote once we have seen the document. See our guide to Power of Attorney cost in Dubai and what affects the price, or read how long a Power of Attorney stays valid.
