Vehicle and Car Loan Power of Attorney

Authorise someone to sell, transfer, renew or settle finance on your vehicle, with wording prepared for the offices and banks involved.

Handle your vehicle without being there

Selling a car, transferring ownership or closing out a car loan usually needs the owner in person. A vehicle Power of Attorney lets someone you trust do it for you, which is useful if you have left the UAE or cannot get away from work.

If the car is financed, the bank is part of the process as well. We prepare the document with both the traffic office and the lender in mind.

What you will need to start

  • Passport and Emirates ID of the owner
  • Vehicle registration (mulkiya) details
  • Passport or ID details of the attorney
  • Loan or finance details, if the vehicle is financed
  • What you want the attorney to do: sell, transfer, renew, export or settle

What the document can cover

List only the actions you actually need.

  • Selling the vehicle and signing the transfer
  • Renewing registration or settling fines
  • Settling or closing a car loan with the bank
  • Exporting or scrapping the vehicle
  • Collecting the vehicle or its documents

How the process works

  1. Confirm the task. We note whether the attorney will sell, transfer, renew, export or settle finance on the vehicle, and whether it is financed.
  2. Check vehicle and lender requirements. We compare the details with your registration card and ask whether the lender needs its own form or approval.
  3. Draft and review. We list only the actions you need, state whether the attorney may receive sale proceeds, and send it to you for approval.
  4. Notarise. You sign before a notary public with your original identity documents.
  5. Translate, attest and deliver. If you sign abroad, we arrange translation and attestation, then give you the finished original for the attorney.

What to check before you sign

  • Vehicle details match the registration card.
  • Whether the lender requires its own form or approval.
  • Whether the attorney may receive sale proceeds.
  • Fines or restrictions on the vehicle that could block the transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, with a Power of Attorney that gives that power. The traffic office and any lender may have their own conditions.

Possibly, if the document includes it and the bank accepts the wording. Always ask the bank what it needs.

Not necessarily. One document can cover both, but the powers must be listed clearly.

Generally yes. Sign before a notary where you are, then translate and attest it for UAE use.

We recommend revoking the Power of Attorney so the authority does not stay open.
