Marriage by Guardian Power of Attorney

Appoint a representative for a marriage contract when the guardian or party cannot attend.

When someone important cannot be at the contract

In some marriages a guardian takes part in the contract. If that person is abroad or unable to attend, they can sign a Power of Attorney naming a representative to act for them.

Marriage documents are sensitive and the authorities have their own rules about who may act and how. We prepare the document to the requirements of the court or office involved and confirm them before drafting.

What you will need to start

  • Passport and Emirates ID of the person granting the power
  • Details of the representative
  • Details of the bride and groom
  • Any court or office instructions on wording

What the document can cover

The powers are set to the task you actually need done. Anything not listed is not given.

  • Acting for a guardian at the marriage contract
  • Signing the contract where allowed
  • Submitting the documents to the authority
  • Collecting the marriage certificate

How the process works

  1. Confirm the requirements. We check what the court or office accepts, and who may act as a representative, before drafting.
  2. Prepare the details. We match the names of the guardian, the representative and the couple to their passports.
  3. Draft and review. We prepare the document and send it to you for approval.
  4. Notarise. The person granting the power signs before a notary public. If they are abroad, we arrange the route for their country.
  5. Translate, attest and deliver. Where required, we handle translation and attestation so the document is ready to submit.

What to check before you sign

  • The authority accepts a representative in your case
  • Names match the passports exactly
  • The document is recent enough for the office
  • Everyone involved understands the powers given
