Court Case Power of Attorney

Authorise a lawyer to represent you before the courts, with the powers a court expects to see.

Representation that the court will accept

Dubai courts expect a lawyer to hold a Power of Attorney that names the powers needed to act. A missing power can delay a hearing.

We work from your lawyer’s instructions so the document includes what they need, such as filing, attending, receiving documents and appealing, and leaves out what you do not want to give.

What you will need to start

  • Passport and Emirates ID, or passport if abroad
  • Name and licence details of the lawyer
  • Case type and number, if filed
  • The powers your lawyer asks for

What the document can cover

The powers are set to the task you actually need done. Anything not listed is not given.

  • Filing and defending a claim
  • Attending hearings
  • Receiving and submitting documents
  • Appeal or execution, where listed
  • Settlement, only if you choose to allow it

How the process works

  1. Get your lawyer’s instructions. We take the case details and the powers your lawyer needs.
  2. Draft the powers. We include what the court expects, such as filing, attending, receiving documents and appeal, and leave out what you do not want to give.
  3. Review. You and your lawyer approve the wording before signing.
  4. Notarise. You sign before a notary public with original identity documents, or in your country if you are abroad.
  5. Translate, attest and hand over. We arrange any translation and attestation, then give the finished document to your lawyer.

What to check before you sign

  • Your lawyer has seen the draft
  • The case is described correctly
  • Settlement and appeal powers are your decision
  • You know how to revoke the authority at the end
